Cannabidiol (CBD) is a cannabinoid, one of the many medicinal compounds found in the cannabis plant.  It has been proven to improve the well being of people with issues including brain function, diabetes, inflammation, and immune cell functions. There is solid medical evidence that CBD can improve the efficiency of existing cancer chemotherapies and that it acts on cancer itself.

The question then becomes, what kind of products does Cannabis Thera want to concentrate on?

The fact is, there are literally hundreds of medical applications for cannabidiol (CBD) that warrant investigation, but in April, Cannabis Thera Inc. and its parent company, Earth Science Tech, Inc., decided that the companies’ development plans would focus on Women’s Health issues. On the need to improve the health of women around the world and to give women more control over their health and help them live better lives.

There are many health issues that predominantly affect women, or affect women only. Of course uterine and ovarian cancers only affect women. Breast cancer affects more people than any other cancer type, and 99% of that population is women. There are also reproductive issues, specific heart diseases, and endocrine problems related to the reproductive cycle.

CTI has decided that their immediate projects will target breast and ovarian cancers. Cannabidiol has been proven to have a unique anti-proliferative effect on breast cancer cells, and clinical trials with triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients are testing the potential to improve the effectiveness of chemotherapy medications against this particular cancer, for which there is currently no specific treatment.

There are two distinct formats to the company’s research. CTI is working to develop CBD-based drugs and nutraceutical products. On its own, Cannabidiol is recognized for its activity in the human body. Combining CBD with other nutraceutical and plant ingredients will result in new products that can counter a variety of medical problems.

The company is also working to develop entirely new drugs by integrating the CBD molecule with existing generic drug molecules to improve old drugs or discover new applications for existing drugs. Old drugs can get new life by virtue of this process. CBD can make drugs more efficient - with less active molecule - than they were, with fewer and less severe side effects for patients. Particularly for cancer patients.

One of the most interesting new projects is a proposal to test the effects of cannabinoids on the human immune system. Autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and inflammatory bowel disease can only be treated, not cured. If that could be changed, the effects on the medical landscape would be world changing.

Cannabinoids are the next major frontier in medical research. No one knows for certain what incredible discoveries are waiting to be found, but everyone knows that they are there, and that they will be found. It’s the hard work and expertise of scientists and dreamers who that make those discoveries a reality.
